The Animal School
This example of a sattire is one I have seen on twitter about a year ago. The point or meaning of the story is to explain how our schools unfairly educate our students. It implies that every person is unique, with their own particular interests, strengths, and weaknesses. If each individual wishes to become skilled in an interest or strength, they need to practice and learn about them on a consistent and vigorous basis. This brings me to the issue of this reading. If every person is unique and unequal, than our schools should be teaching the students as individuals, rather than equals. In my opinion, students should specialize in their own classes based on their personal interests and strengths. We live in a society that believes each and every person is equal, when in reality this case is 100% invalid. Every person is equipped with their own interests, personality, learning preference (auditory, visual, etc.), and strengths and should be raised and taught in a manner that suits the individual rather than the whole.
Honest College Ad
This advertisement was to reveal the reality of college students to be irresponsible party-seeking teenagers, rather than professional young adults that are seeking an education. The ad implies that college is thought to be a place where education and professionalism is valued, but in reality it is a place with lazy students looking for a good time rather than a future. Though the stereotype is moderately true to some students, I believe most students at this university live a more mature lifestyle. Though drinking is common, most students I have talked to value their education and dreams for the future.
